UPDATE: The car was sold for £105,000 to a buyer from the Middle East.
A rare copper-bronze Lotus Esprit Turbo featured in the James Bond movie “For Your Eyes Only” is predicted to fetch up to £120,000 when it hits the auction block later this month.
The car was last sold on eBay in 2006 for a whopping $210,000.
In the movie, the Esprit was fitted with a deadly security system that exploded when the ignition was tampered with by 007’s would-be assailant. Thankfully, the Esprit is no longer fitted with such a feature.
Two identical cars were supplied for the film production, but the other Esprit was blown up during a stunt.
The car is identified as chassis number SCCFC20A8AMD 10858 with engine number CC912 8011 18912.
The Esprit will be auctioned by Coys in a sale at Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire, on July 18.
