Proton’s expansive display at the 2010 Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show was the stage for the debut of the Proton Lekir Concept. A barely disguised Lotus Europa, the Lekir wears what appears to be a modified front bumper based on the Dodge Circuit EV concept, while the rear bumper design is a bit more unique.
Sales below expectations since the Europa’s launch in 2006 unfortunately mean that the Europa’s cancellation should come as no surprise. Dealer ordering ended on May 25th for this under-appreciated Lotus. Lotus bulletin below:
Last week, Chrysler revealed its product plans for the next five years under its new partner Fiat. The plans confirmed rumors that the Dodge Circuit EV, heavily based on the Lotus Europa, had been canned. The two other electric ENVI concepts have been placed on ice as well.
